Self-Assessment and Excellence

Supporting self-awareness and recognition of high standards

The ultimate goal for each organization is to define what excellence looks like, to encourage it in every practice, and develop consistently high standards in everyday procedures—and when necessary, to identify and correct its own mistakes.

The Commission requires a yearly self-assessment report based on current standards to be conducted by managers of each department and members of the governing body.

Regular internal procedures that The Commission encourages include: reviewing quality assurance and safety for patient care, staff evaluations and continuing education, and strategic planning for the governing board and staff.
